Hardin County Judge Executive, Harry Berry directed all county facilities to begin a phased re-opening on Monday, May 18, 2020. The County Government Building will reopen to the public on that date with masks and temperature screenings required for entry. Entry will only be allowed at the main entrance at the front of the building off N Provident Way and will be limited to only nine citizens at a time in common areas.
Since March 17, 2020 our office has been closed to the public; however, land use applications and building and electrical permits are being successfully processed by email, mail, fax and through use of our online portal. Our staff will still be here working Monday – Friday 8:00 am until 4:30 pm and both the building and electrical inspectors will continue performing inspections on their normal schedules.
At this time, our office will remain closed to walk-in customers and open to the public by appointment only until further notice. We strongly encourage our citizens to continue using these alternative means to obtain permits but, if a face-to-face meeting is necessary we can accommodate you via an appointment to visit the office.
We hope to resume holding public hearings before the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment the week of June 16th using social distancing practices. However, masks and temperature screenings will be required to enter the building and participate.
Our office will be making safety modifications to our lobby to better distance the employees from the public and we anticipate those being completed in very early June and at that time we will fully reopen to the public. We appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation as we work through this pandemic together. Please give us a call if you have any additional questions or concerns.
